  Readercon
Posted by Karl on Monday July 08, @12:41PM
I'll be a guest at this year's Readercon, held this upcoming weekend at the Burlington, Mass. Marriott. Readercon is a literarily-oriented Science Fiction convention; if you go, expect to see a lot of people reading, and no discussions or panels on Star Trek, Star Wars, anime etc. Heaven for us authors.

I'll be doing various panels at the convention, as well as holding a 1/2 hour talk on "how I wrote Permanence." So, if you're in the Boston area this weekend, drop by. It should be a great time for us word-geeks.

Well, the con was a notable success for me, with good attendance for my events and very interesting panels. I finally got to meet several of my reviewers, which was a particularly nice surprise. Getting out to conventions is an invaluable way of finding out whether you're actually being read, or whether people are just buying your books as doorstops (apparently I'm being read). Particular thanks to those who showed up for the "How I Wrote Permanence" talk and the kaffeeklatsch. It was a lot of fun to talk about writing, something I can do for hours if nobody stops me.

While in the States Janice and I toured around the Boston area, where I'd never been before. Massachusetts is a beautiful state (I like trees) and I got to see a number of sites I'd always wanted to see, including the USS Constitution, which we had a model of when I was a kid.

Once again, thanks everybody, and to all of you who will be at ConJose in August, see you there!
