Boing Boing on Queen of Candesce
Posted by Karl on Tuesday October 16, @08:29AM
It's no secret that Cory Doctorow and I are pals, so a review of Queen of Candesce in Boing Boing shouldn't be too surprising (though I didn't request it and Cory wouldn't post something like this if he didn't really like the book). What is noteworthy is the extraordinarily lucid description Cory gives of what this book is about; he should have written the jacket copy (not that I'm complaining about that).

Hence, I am officially going to stop trying to describe the novel on this website, because Cory's done the job; from now on I'll just refer people to his review. Thanks, Cory! I'm glad you liked Venera's madcap adventures, and there's definitely more to come.

"Schroeder's world-building, storytelling, and character-drawing chops seem strong enough to give even Known Space a run for its money."

"With Queen of Candesce, Karl Schroeder's Virga saga establishes itself as an SF saga of the same order as LeGuin's Earthsea stories, Asimov's Robot stories, and Niven's Ringworld stories."
