Death by Spam

Spam is killing me. I normally get about 200 spam emails a day, and just this morning I discovered that my ISP's spam filter went nuts some indeterminate time ago, and began randomly designating important emails as spam--meaning that I've lost a LOT of communications in recent months without knowing it.

Not only that, this site (and Age of Embodiment) have been getting pasted by spambots to the point that AOE's comments database now has 160,000 items in it! Since I can't globally select comments for deletion, AOE at least has become untenable; so I've had to shut it down. It was moribund anyway, but I hate being forced to do it.

This site is also being attacked. I will have to change my blogging software; luckily, I'm almost done a complete site redesign, so the result will be better in all respects--more up to date, with better RSS, trackbacks, technorati pinging etc.

Meanwhile, my profoundest apologies if you've been trying to contact me without results. For now, my only solution appears to be manually reading every spam that comes into my inbox, until I find a better spam filter.
