Needs of the Globe
by Ed Jonas on Tuesday May 04, @11:36AM
THE NEEDS AND WILL OF THE GLOBE

GIVEN....... that some of us have ascribed a life or being
to the globe or planet.......
What do we infer or consider the needs of the globe
to be......
and
if as some infer that it has consciousness as well....
what if any might be the will of the planet?

I suppose such queries as these, at this point and time
would require some form or method of extrapolation or inference
or at least some mindfulness or meditation. ie: we would
require some sensitivity training towards the planet.

The need for balance, The need to be cared for and to care for, The need to be in relation, and in this relatedness to be as a beacon of light. Earth's deepest will is our deepest will.

        THE NATURAL PURPOSE OF HUMANITY

The spontaneous inception and evolution of the human race
is perhaps a function and expression of the will of the planet,
to experience and know itself in it's own entirety and given such....
to nurture, mature and continue this experience and knowing
within this, its' place and time in and of the galaxy and universe!

        • The Anthrosphere
by Ed Jonas on Thursday May 06, @11:23AM
Definition: The anthrosphere.is that part of the environment that is made or modified by
humans for use in human activities.
As human technology becomes more evolved, so do the impacts of human activities
on the environment. Some examples of parts of the anthrosphere that interface with the
geosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere are summarized in the above image.
The ultimate goal of environmental science is to minimize the flux of pollutant and/or
toxic substances across the interface between the anthrosphere and other spheres while
          maintaining a functional technological society.
Environmental research over the past ~20 years has resulted in a significant
improvement in human understanding of the magnitudes and impacts of material fluxes
leaving the anthrosphere. Many of these fluxes had unpredicted or more-extreme than-
expected consequences. The technology to halt some of these fluxes has also improved
significantly in the past two decades. For instance, this had lead to a number of "end of
pipe" controls on emissions from factories, automobiles, feedlots and even bakeries. End-
of-pipe controls on emissions are often based on complex and/or expensive chemical
transformations, many of which are also energy intensive.

          • A Sustainable Anthrosphere
by Ed Jonas on Thursday May 06, @01:04PM
A sustainable anthrospheric range or density then
is most likely a function of the amount of land and resources
required to support and sustain a given number of people
at any given standard and quality of life! The desireable
goal then would be to achieve a sustainable standard and
quality of life anthrosphere within the context of the planet
            as a whole.

Perhaps the best or most probable way
              to sustain the anthrosphere......
is to adopt measures to contain
or limit and manage its exponential
              growth.

by Ed Jonas on Monday May 10, @12:53PM
Living within our means might be explained as follows:
because the antrhrosphere tends to be mainly dependent
upon the biosphere, the anthrosphere has to live within the
constraints of the biosphere or suffer the resulting deterioration
                in environment etc.

      THE MOBILITY QUESTION

Perhaps the increasing cost of gas, is the silver bullet that is
required to break the destructive and vicious cycle created
by societies addiction to the automobile.
We could then, view this as an opportunity to set in motion
humanities need to find other alternative, more sustainable
and more ecofriendly ways and means to address the
      "mobility question."
      What is the mobility question?
I suppose it is the question of this day or decade or century.
In many ways, the current automobile and transportation system
is an extravagant and wasteful use of precious and non renewable
resources and a counterproductive lifestyle choice. Why?
Because the benefits of the automobile are largely exaggerated
and out weighed by the problems it creates and has created as
an graphic example of a false economy.
As was stated a false economy is one that is built upon
practices and resources that are destructive and unsustainable
and while, in the short term the auto has seemed feasible, it does
not present as a long term and sustainable solution for humanities
mobility and transportation wants and needs.
Consider it..... why waste the energy and resources need to propel
a 1 ton vehicle around to move a 200 lb driver that really could
use the exercise provide by propelling themselves (in some cases we drive to
a gym, where we can "work out). This strikes me, as bad physics,
bad science, bad engineering and bad medicine all rolled up into one.
Not to mention the money, energy and resources spent and used up
to accommodate said vehicle and life style choice.
Surely we are smart enough as a spiritual animal to address this
problem in a more effective, sustainable, creative and reasonable way?
      Aren't we?
