Absolutely. The wrong people are going to drive this process. The process will likely result in human extinction (whether in favour of something "better" is moot.) So unless we're ready for the fight of the epoch--specifically a fight to push forward the best of humanity and restrain the monsters--then we shouldn't get behind the process at all.
